Keswick Comfort Bridle

Paddy comes home with rosettes attached to his new bridle

Paddy came home with two rosettes from the National Equifest Championships this week.

Stacey messaged me to say,

"Paddy has been a little superstar! We’ve managed 2 top 10 placings in our classes! A 4th in the ridden with over 20 entries and a 7th in the in-hand with over 25 entries! And the judge even commented on how lovely my bridle was and you can tell it’s not plastic leather!🥳 ( Just had to tell you that bit) 😂"

Paddy was fitted with his new Keswick Comfort Bridle and his lovely new bit just in time for his trip to Peterborough.

The Keswick Comfort Bridle is designed to relieve pressure...

...around the cervico auricular muscle (back and base of ears)

... on the temporomandibular joint (TMJ)

... across the brow including all processes of the frontal bone

... against the wing of the atlas (first vertebra).

The headpiece is wide over the poll to distribute pressure, but narrows to fit between the ears and the wing of the atlas. The headpiece is also long, which when combined with short cheeks, ensures no buckle pressure anywhere other than against the masseter muscle (cheek). The brow band is split leather and feels as soft and as light as a ribbon, so the horse experiences no discomfort across the surfaces of the frontal bone or sagittal crest.

These lovely bridles are hand made in Keswick by Karen from Amber Leather. The leather and all metal parts are British. Havana bridles come with brass buckles and black bridles come with silver coloured buckles.

It is hard to explain the difference a Keswick Comfort Bridle makes to a horse's way of going. I often feel like I have taken a badly fitting pair of sunglasses off them. Or removed the brick wall they were constantly banging their head against. And they never rub or yawn or show any other signs of huge relief when the bridle is taken off at the end of a ride or a schooling session.

I am biased, but I love these bridles as much as the horses do. Do book in to try one on and listen to what your horse thinks about it.
