Mounted Police Support Volunteers

Ruth and Heather are proud Mounted PSV's

We regularly ride our horses, Marchie and Masque out around the villages of Sleagill, Reagill, Newby and Kings Meaburn in our role as Mounted Police Support Volunteers.

We are available to be stopped so neighbours can tell us if they’ve noticed anything suspicious or would like to find out more about securing their property and protecting themselves from rural crimes.

We’ve learnt a lot from attending Police Volunteer training sessions and what we learn, we pass on to other local residents.

We get regular updates from the police on local crimes and pass this intel on to the people in our local community, hot off the press, via a WhatsApp group.

In addition, Heather and Marchie have enjoyed visiting Morland, Temple Sowerby and Shap schools with PCSO Karen Dakin. There we chatted to the children whilst, one by one, they came to pat Marchie.
